As part of the church's "Nurturing Ministry," a new project was
begun for those that are sick or shut in. "Prayer Quilts" are being made by the women and men of St. Mary's which
are given to those not able, either temporarily or permanently, to be with us at worship.
Each quilt consists of two layers of colorful fleece.
The edges of each layer are cut perpendicular to the edge and knotted to join the layers. The two layers are held together
throughout the quilt by threats that are drawn through the layers at random. A prayer is said by the quilter for the
recipient as the knott
is tied.
A note is attached to the quilt which expresses our love, concern
and continuing prayers from their St. Mary's family. It is usually delivered by a parishioner during a visit.
