The Christian Outreach Mens Mission Association or COMMA, gave generously of their
time and skills to St. Mary's in the maintenance of the parish house and church. One September morning, nine men
gathered with scrappers, paint brushes, cans of paint and rags, to freshen and preserve the wooden portions of the two structures.
Both handicap accessible ramps and step railings together with wood supports and facings were cleaned, prepared and painted.
Fourteen men are involved in COMMA throughout the Tyaskin-Bivalue-Nanticoke area. It is composed of men from
different faith communities, including St. Mary's, with the dominate membership being in the Westside Methodist churches.
Most men are retired from other professions but not "retired" in their service to others.
Examples of other tasks in which COMMA has been involved are rebuilding floors in a house where the
joist had rotted, building handicap accessible ramps at the Bivalue and Tyaskin churches, and tree pruning, wood replacement
and painting at a home occupied by a single person.
COMMA represents the best in community
involvement, and Christian commitment and service to others. The membership of St. Mary's appreciates their work
and ministry and is pleased to be represented among them.
