Bishop Shand's 2008 Visitation
to St. Mary's

On Sunday, November 2, The Rt. Rev. James J. Shand, X Bishop of
Easton, made his annual visitation to St. Mary's Tyaskin. In addition to celebrating the Eucharist, the bishop confirmed
Brenda Dicus and Bob Wolf. Patty Wolf was received into our community of faith.
Additionally, Bishop Shand offered prayers of thanksgiving for the
restoration and repair work almost completed for our 210 year old historic church. After the service a delicious
dinner was served to everyone in the parish hall.
On a beautiful October Saturday, 100% of St. Mary's
"family" hosted one of its renowned Oyster Fritter Frys for the West End Community and surrounding areas. Over
160 "friends" of and newcomers to the parish took advantage of the delicious Eastern Shore oyster fitter fry sandwiches by
consuming 6 gallons of oysters, 43 hot dogs and hamburgers plus sodas. A bake table with cakes, cookies, breads
and other "goodies" was available as well.
The proceeds will be used to both kick off the "Pulling St. Mary's Together" Fundraiser to support the church improvements
and repairs, and to meet the ongoing operating expenses of the parish. More important an event of fellowship and
friendship took place that was enjoyed by everyone.
